Conflict-free Diamonds
Conflict Free Diamonds
Conflict diamonds are diamonds that are illegally traded to fund conflict in war torn areas, particularly in central and western Africa.
In July 2000, the global diamond industry committed to a zero tolerance policy towards conflict diamonds. Dedicated to eradicating the trade in conflict diamonds, it worked closely with governments and the United Nations to create the Kimberly Process.
Any country who has dealt with conflict diamonds are prohibited from extracting and trading diamonds. To prevent diamonds from areas of conflict entering into the legitimate diamond supply chain, diamonds are monitored at every point of the diamond pipeline from the mining to the selling.
Today over 99% of the world’s supply of diamonds is from sources free of conflict.
Royal diamonds supports the Kimberly process and adheres to any and all regulations set regarding conflict free diamonds.
